Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park protects the chain of fells of Western Lapland. The park is third largest national park in Finland and its highest point is Taivaskero fell, 809 m. In the north the landscape is characterized by gently sloping, upland-like Ounastunturi fell. The southernmost fell of the chain, Yllästunturi, rises among old forests. Part of the fell is outside the boundaries of the national park.
