Summary:

Species-rich LIFE focused on improving the status of habitats with the greatest biodiversity in Finland in protected areas belonging to the Natura 2000 network, from the Archipelago Sea in the south to Kuusamo in the north. A total of over 1,000 hectares of habitats including meadows, forested traditional biotopes, herb-rich forests, and old-growth broadleaved forests inhabited by the White-backed Woodpecker were managed as part of the project in 2011-2016. At the same time, the living conditions of species typical of these habitats that are now under threat were improved.
