Summary

People leave many kinds of traces when moving about in nature. The heavier the traces, the greater the number of travellers and the fresher the tracks. Today, the traces left by the people of the Stone Age are only slight depressions in the terrain, but the large structures associated with tar burning and log floating will still be visible for a long time.
