2018 was an outstanding business year for Metsähallitus. Timber trade enjoyed good results and three turnkey wind parks were also delivered. The number of hunting and fishing permits sold by Wilderness Services increased. Parks & Wildlife Finland achieved its objectives, and additional funding was received for dealing with the renovation backlog related to hiking infrastructure.

Turnover for Metsähallitus Group was EUR 366.4 million, exceeding last year’s turnover by EUR 38.4 million. Metsähallitus Group’s annual result was EUR 124.8 million.

In 2018, Metsähallitus made progress in its corporate social responsibility programme, which includes being one of the first Finnish state authorities to draft a Code of Conduct.

According to a calculated assessment, 63 million euros of the operating profit for Metsähallitus Forestry Ltd. and Metsähallitus Property Development were invested in the implementation of common social obligations in 2018. Of this, approximately 40 million euros went to the promotion of biodiversity.

Last year, Metsähallitus Parks & Wildlife Finland led or participated in 130 projects, including international collaboration projects, extensive nature conservation projects and the maintenance of built heritage sites in Finland.
